Important Dates – SSB Constable Tradesman Recruitment 2026
10th / Matriculation pass with Science as main subject from a recognised board and one year experience in treatment of different species of animals in a recognised veterinary hospital.
Constable (Driver) Male
Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised board and must possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
Constables (Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter)
Matriculation or equivalent plus either (i) two years work experience in the respective trade, or (ii) one year certificate course from a recognised ITI/Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade, or (iii) two years diploma from a recognised ITI in the trade or similar trade; must qualify trade test; multi‑skilled candidates will be given preference.
Constable (Carpenter)
Matriculation or equivalent and either (i) two years work experience in the trade, or (ii) one year ITI/Vocational certificate with one year experience, or (iii) two years ITI diploma in the trade; must qualify trade test.
Constable (Nursing Orderly)
10th pass from a recognised board, First Aid certificate from St. John’s Ambulance Organisation or Red Cross Society of India, and at least one year working experience as Nursing Orderly in a minimum 50‑bedded hospital/institution recognised by Central/State Government.

Pay Level-3 of 7th CPC pay matrix with basic pay Rs.21,700–69,100 plus applicable Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances.

Pension Scheme

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): For Constables (Veterinary, Driver, Gardener, Water Carrier, Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Waiter, Carpenter & Nursing Orderly), PET consists of 4.8 km race in 24 minutes for male candidates and 2.4 km race in 18 minutes for female candidates; Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PET but must appear for other stages.
Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates who qualify PET will undergo PST where height, chest (for male) and weight are measured as per category/ region-wise standards; candidates not meeting minimum standards will be rejected.
Written Examination: Objective-type written test as per SSB pattern covering General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Reasoning and Trade-related subjects; detailed scheme and syllabus will be notified on the SSB website.
Trade/ Skill Test: Practical trade test for Tradesman posts and driving/maintenance test for Constable (Driver) to assess hands-on skills; qualifying in nature as per prescribed criteria.
Documentation & Medical Examination: Verification of original documents, certificates, category and age proofs followed by medical examination as per SSB medical standards; only medically fit candidates will be considered for final selection.
