Education & Eligible Criteria – Indian Army TGC 144 Entry Recruitment 2026
Candidates must possess a B.E. / B.Tech degree in the notified engineering streams from a recognized university.
Final Year Students: Candidates studying in the final year/semester of their engineering degree are also fully eligible to apply, provided they can produce proof of passing the degree examination by January 1, 2027.
Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates must not marry until they complete full training at IMA, Dehradun.
Important Note: ALL final year appearing candidates whose final year/final semester exam result will be declared AFTER 01 Jan 2027 are NOT eligible to apply. Final semester studying candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB subject to their cumulative percentage of marks up to 6th semester/ 3rd year not being below the approved cut-off percentage.

Because there is no written exam, the shortlisting works sequentially through the absolute core of academic merit:
Shortlisting of Applications: Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) sets a stream-wise cut-off percentage based on cumulative marks obtained up to the final year (or up to the 6th semester for final year students)
SSB Interview (5-Day Process): Shortlisted candidates will select their SSB dates and centers (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar). This covers Stage I (OIR & PPDT Screening) and Stage II (Psychological tests, GTO outdoor tasks, Personal Interview, and Board Conference).
Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo regular military medical checkups.
Final Merit List: Formulated purely on the marks secured during the SSB Interview.
