The Union Public Service Commission follows a structured, step-by-step screening process to fill these 194 vacancies:

  1. Scrutiny of Applications (Shortlisting): UPSC reviews all submitted Common Application Forms (CAF). Candidates are shortlisted based on the Essential Qualifications (EQ), exact age criteria, and relevant professional experience listed in the advertisement.
  2. Recruitment Test (RT) — Conditional: 

    If shortlisting by credentials isn’t sufficient due to a massive volume of applicants, UPSC will conduct an objective-type Recruitment Test (RT).

    • If an RT is held, its weightage usually forms a major chunk of the final score (typically a 75:25 ratio between the Test and the Interview).

  3.  Personality Test (Interview): Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview at the UPSC Office in New Delhi. The interview carries a total of 100 marks. It evaluates your domain knowledge, decision-making skills, leadership qualities, and overall suitability for the specific administrative or managerial role.
  4. Document Verification & Medical Exam: Candidates recommended by the interview board undergo absolute verification of original certificates (Educational, Experience, Caste/EWS status). A standard medical fitness examination follows before the final appointment letters are issued.

How to Apply?

  • One-Time Registration (OTR): Log on to the official portal at http://upsconline.nic.in/. If you haven’t registered previously, complete the One-Time Registration to generate your permanent Universal Registration Number (URN).
  • Fill the Common Application Form (CAF): Log in using your UTR credentials and fill in your personal, educational, and professional experience details specific to Advt No. 05/2026.
  • Upload Required Documents: Upload your scanned photograph, signature (signed three times vertically on white paper with black ink), and supporting certificates (Age proof, Degree, Experience, Category).
  • Pay the Application Fee: Pay the standard application fee of ₹25 (General/OBC/EWS Male candidates) online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit card, or UPI. SC, ST, PwBD, and Women candidates are completely exempted from the fee.
  • Final Submit & Print: Cross-check all information in the preview screen before final submission. Submit the form and print/save the automatically generated Application Number for future tracking.
