Educational Qualification – UGC-NET June 2026
For General/ Unreserved/ General-EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for this Test.
For the Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/ SC/ ST/ PwD/ Third Gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks are also eligible. Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course can also apply.

Age Limit – UGC-NET June 2026

Generally, for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), there is an upper age limit (typically around 30 years, with relaxations for reserved categories). However, there is no upper age limit for candidates applying for the post of Assistant Professor or for Ph.D. admission only. Selection Process – UGC-NET June 2026
The selection process consists of the Computer Based Test (CBT).
Candidates will be assessed based on their performance in Paper I (General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude) and Paper II (Subject-specific).
Following the exam, NTA will display the recorded responses and provisional answer keys for challenges. The final results will determine eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professorship, or Ph.D. admission based on the marks obtained and the cut-off criteria.
